Metro Council to Review Mayor Greenberg’s $1.26 Billion Budget ProposalÌý
Hearings on the 2025-2026 fiscal year budget began on May 8. The $1.26 billion budget proposed by Mayor Craig Greenberg includes funds for public safety, modular housing and emergency shelters, and development funds to supplement economic expansion.ÌýÌý
Highlights of the Mayor’s budget proposal include:Ìý
- New investment allocated for more cameras and license plate readersÌý
- Continued investment in the Louisville Group Violence Intervention programÌý
- Five percent raise for non-union employeesÌý
- New investment in AI to make metro government more efficient and effectiveÌý
- Snow team investments to improve efficiency and effectivenessÌý
- Increased Department of Transportation fundingÌý
- Increased Solid Waste Management funding to boost street sweeping and improve cleanlinessÌý
- Staffing and security at Algonquin Park and Baxter Community CenterÌý
- More money for deferred maintenance at parksÌý
- Fully fund the Highland Park Bike ParkÌý
- $1 million matching funds for new books/materials at librariesÌý
- Sponsorship of July 4th at Waterfront ParkÌý
The budget also includes $100,000 allocated to 91¹ú²ú͵ÅÄ Inc. to continue supporting the development of 91¹ú²ú͵ÅÄ’s regional economy.Ìý
